Once the child sages,SanatKumaras, sons of Lord Brahma went to Vaikunda, to worship Lord Vishnu. But they were stopped from entering the Vaikunda by Jaya and Vijaya. Due to that they got angry with them and cursed them to take birth in the earth for several millions of years and to be killed by Lord Vishnu during their births. They were born as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hiranyaksha\">Hiranyaksha<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hiranyakashipu\">Hiranyakashipu<\/a>\u00a0in Satya Yuga,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ravana\">Ravana<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kumbhakarna\">Kumbhakarna<\/a>\u00a0in Treta Yuga, and finally\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shishupala\">Shishupala<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Characters_in_the_Mahabharata#Dantavakra\">Dantavakra<\/a>\u00a0in Dvapara Yuga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were killed by Lord Varaha and Narasimha in the Krita yuga or Satya Yuga,  during the Treta Yuga, they were killed by Lord Rama, and finally at the previous Dwapara yuga, they were killed by Lord Krishna. After their death in the dwapara yuga, they reached Vaikunda , continued doing their service of guarding the divine gates of Vaikunda.
