He was the son of Saradvan and Janapadi. He was adopted along with his sister Kripi by King\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shantanu\">Shantanu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kripa learnt all kinds of Vedas, Shastras and arts and became a royal teacher. His sister Kripi\u00a0\u00a0got married with Sri <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Drona\">Drona<\/a>charya, and their son was Aswathama, who was also one among the seven Chiranjeevis. Kripa was the great grandson of Gautama Maharishi, and he fought on the Kauravas side in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kurukshetra_war\">Kurukshetra war<\/a>, and is considered as an important rishi in this <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kaliyuga\">Kaliyuga<\/a>, and he will become one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saptarishi\">Saptarishi<\/a>\u00a0in the next Kritayuga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kripa taught all kinds of arts to the Pandavas and the Kauravas, and he was also served as the chief priest in the court of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hastinapura\">Hastinapura<\/a>.
