Mata Annapoorneshwari is an aspect of Mata Parvati, and her famous Annapoorneshwari Temple<\/strong> is situated at Horanadu<\/a>, on the banks of the Holy River Bhadra<\/a> at Karnataka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to legend,once Lord Shiva removed one of the heads of Lord Brahma<\/a>, in order to destroy his ego. Due to that, Lord Shiva had suffered from severe hunger. Hence he went to the present place of the temple, where his consort Mata Shakti Devi, transformed into Annapoorneshwari and began to distribute food to Lord Shiva, and due to that, Shiva was relieved from his curse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is believed that during the 8th<\/sup> century AD, the great rishi, Sri Agastya had installed the Annapoorneswari idol at this temple<\/strong>. The temple is administered by hereditary priests and a particular family is excellently discharging their duties in this temple. The surroundings of the temple provide a rich feast to the eyes of the devotees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This holy Annapoorna Temple was worshipped by many saints The details of this temple are also mentioned in ancient texts of Hinduism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idol of Mata Annapoorneshwariis covered with full of gold, and she appears in a standing position, and holds Chakra and Chanku in her hands.Those who visit the holy Devi Anapoorna,would never starve in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akshaya Tritya is the main festival celebrated in this temple<\/strong>. Apart from this festival, annual Navaratri<\/a> festival days are also celebrated at this temple in a grand manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free food is offered three times a day at this temple. Beverages like milk and coffee is also provided to the pilgrims at free of cost, and free lodging facilities are also provided to the pilgrims. Those who enter this temple need not worry about their food, since the divine mother warmly welcomes them, and provides wholesome delicious meals to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
