Daily he used to take food only after chanting the shiva mantra \u201c<strong>OM NAMAH SHIVAYA<\/strong>\u201d and doing shiva puja. Though he was blind, he served Lord shiva and his devotees in a proper manner. Daily he will provide food to the devotees of Lord Shiva and worshiped Lord Shiva at the&nbsp;Shiva temple&nbsp;at Tiruvarur, sing the glory of Lord Shiva and also invoked the bhakti spirit among the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the encroachment near the shiva temple at tiruvarur, Dandiadigal decided to renovate the temple tank and started doing his work. The jains  disliked his act and starting disturbing his work. Since his work was interrupted, Dandi Adigal requested Lord Shiva to help him.&nbsp;Due to the blessings of Lord Shiva, Dandi Adigal has got his eye sight and  the Jains , became blind. Then with the help of the Chola king, the renovation of the temple tank was completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After\nhis death, he attained \u201c<strong>SALVATION\u201d<\/strong>\nand reached Kailasa, the holy abode of Lord Shiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During\nthe Tamil month&nbsp;of Panguni,\nhis festival is celebrated as Guru Puja in all the shiva temples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IMPORTANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even\nthough he was born as a blind person, he didn\u2019t blame the god for his\nsufferings, but concentrated his attention only on devoting Lord Shiva. He had\nserved both the god and his devotees in a well versed manner.
