And he is considered as one among the 63 Nayanars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LIFE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Satti Nayanarbelonged to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vellalar\">Vellalar<\/a> caste, born and lived in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tiruvarur_District\">Tiruvarur District<\/a>&nbsp;. He honoured Shaiva saints and propagated the importance of shaivism sect among the people and among the devotees of Lord Shiva. Though he lived a saintly life, he always carried a weapon in his hand, and if someone spoke ill about Lord Shiva and his devotee, he will immediately remove the person&#8217;s tongue with his powerful weapon. He is said to have done this act, since he wants to punish the sinners with his sharp knife also called&nbsp;as satti. Due to this act he was called as \u201c<strong>SATTI NAYANAR<\/strong>\u201d by the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Swami_Sivananda\">Swami Sivananda<\/a>, also praise the glory of Satti Nayanar for being lived as a great shiva devotee and also for being worshiped as a holy Nayanar saint. &nbsp;&nbsp; From his life, we should know that one should not speak badly about god and his devotees. Though he was violently behaved with the non-shiva devotees, his act was pardoned by the god, since he had done such an act due to his pure bhakti on Lord Shiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sculpture in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Airavatesvara_Temple\">Airavatesvara Temple<\/a> in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Darasuram\">Darasuram<\/a>&nbsp; depicts the nayanmar who carries a knife in his hand and cutting the tongue of a non-shaiva devotee.
